Olvera Street or El Pueblo de Los Angeles, is one field trip you won’t want to miss. This street is one of the oldest in California, and is where The Avila Adobe stands, which is LA’s oldest house standing in its original location. The Avila Adobe is designated as California Historic Landmark #145. Originally built in 1818 by Francisco José Avila, it has since been the home to many of his family members and descendants. It even served as military headquarters in the late 1840’s. We will take a tour of the area, the adobe house and enjoy a Mexican lunch together. Be sure to bring money for lunch and shopping in the quaint old area that is called Olvera Street!
