This time of year, we get together with family and friends, eat lots of good food, enjoy a time of fellowship, and reflect on all the things we are thankful for in our lives. It is so easy to think of all that God has given us and done for us. When we give thanks, we are acknowledging that every good thing comes from God. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17
Throughout scripture, God calls His people to give thanks. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
Being thankful is also a sign of praise. In Psalms 100:4, it says, “enter into His gates with Thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.”
Thankfulness in challenging times will show how much you trust Him. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul writes, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
We have so much to be thankful for, so this Thanksgiving month, I encourage you to enjoy this thankful cross craft with your kids to help remember all that Jesus has not only given us but all that He has done for us. When you stop and take the time to go over all your blessings, you can be reminded of just how good our God is this Thanksgiving season.
